This Gator soprano sax gig bag has whatever you need in a protective cover that looks and works great. The zippers are smooth and strong with tabs that make it easy to find them in dim light. The ballistic cloth material looks sharp and resists scuffs as well as having sharp looking contrasting trim. The strap is easy to adjust and removable in case you want to take it off if it gets in the way for packing your gear in and out. Frankly I know in the old days always and even still, most people utilize a hard shell case for basic storage and certainly for any shipping or travel of a valuable instrument. For that reason I still call this a gig bag because it is soft-sided and wouldn't stand up against crushing weight. You decide when and if that's likely to happen to your horn in your daily routine, but short of that the closed-cell foam in the Gator Allegro bag is excellent in shock absorbing and if somebody drops or knocks the horn over you can be sure no damage is going to occur. It has rubber feet on it to set it upright and keep the material off of the ground, too. There's space to put your mouthpiece, reeds, mop and a cloth, too. This company has been around for a while and they make good gear. Cotton lied interior cradle and interior bag, comfortable rolled-type handles, too. Nice bag of good quality and sharp looks!

I've had a few "soft" cases in the past, but never felt like they'd do a sufficient job of protecting my sax—I ended up getting a contoured hard flight case for my tenor because of this, but the tradeoff is that it is heavy.

My kiddo might be picking up alto this fall and both hard cases I have are heavy, bulky, and somewhat trashy, so I've been looking at something of a happy medium. This seemed to fit the bill so I decided to give this a try.

It works really well and both altos I tried fit snugly within. Inside is a clever pouch for the neck, which also serves as an internal stabilizer as well (see pictures). The case also has two external pockets for reeds, accessories, etc. Finally, it also has straps that can be connected either as a sling or as backpack straps.

The only con—as others have mentioned—is that the zipper is a little difficult to open. Still, it's better than being too easy to open and I think the strap that connects both zippers has something to do with it, so I'm going to play around with it to see if I can make it work better.

I was in need of a new travel case for my saxophone, took a chance on this one. It is well cushioned and overall build quality seems to be pretty nice but there's a few items that I didn't realize would be annoying until I came across it.

The first is that the positioning of the saxophone feels a little bit uncomfortable. Rather than laying it on its side you slide it in along the back of the body. It does wobble a little bit before you zip everything up. The other is that there's no inside pocket to hold things like the saxophone neck the reads the mouthpieces or any other things all of those things have to go on the side pocket. Notice myself feeling as though I didn't have enough space to put stuff.

Overall it does work as a case, but I think after this is worn out, i will go back to a more traditional style case.

i played saxophone in highschool and college. and then it has just sat in my attic since i stopped playing. my son is starting middle school and wants to join band. he wants to try the sax. so i dug mine out of the attic and the case i had was old to begin with when i had it. and has just got worse with time. i needed a new one, so when i saw this it looked really nice.
It is beyond nice. it's really freaking nice. nicest case i've ever seen for an instrument. and makes it a lot easier to transport back and forth from school. the bookbag style straps is a really nice touch. the whole bag is padded and has extra space for all the accessories needed. this is a really well made and nice bag. i'd buy another one.
